Bilagi, Bagalkot May9: Mines & Geology Minister and Kalaburgi district in-charge minister Murugesh R Nirani who represents Bilagi assembly constituency has been taking several initiatives through his MRN Foundation and providing succour to innumerable people suffering from COVID-19 by supplying free oxygen to taluk hospital and other necessary aid. The MRN Foundation has joined hands with the taluk administration and local BJP unit in offering timely medical aid.
Minister Murugesh Nirani said the COVID-19 cases are increasing exponentially in the second wave and added that the Bilagi taluk administration was fully equipped to tackle the COVID-19 crisis and provide better treatment to patients and contain the spread of virus. The minister made the statement after visiting the covid care centre and taluk covid hospital.
FREE OXYGEN SUPPLY:
The rapid spread of the coronavirus and huge increase in the number of infected patients overwhelmed our public health system which in return resulted in the shortage of oxygen supply across the country. Realising the problem, MRN Foundation took it as a challenge and started supplying free oxygen to Bilagi taluk hospital and plans to supply oxygen to other hospitals in the district in the coming days.
CONSULTANCY FROM EXPERT DOCTORS:
The MRN Foundation has roped in reputed doctors to treat the patients and offer consultancy. Well-known cardiologist Dr Dayanand B Yaligar will visit Bilagi taluk hospital twice in a week to treat patients and offer online consultancy for five days. Nirani foundation’s health officer Dr Shivakumar Virakthimut will cooperate with covid centre and hospital doctors.
FREE TAXI AND AMBULANCE SERVICE:
The MRN Foundation and the local BJP unit have provided five taxis to help admit infected patients to covid care centre and dropping those who recovered from the virus to their houses. Two ambulances are being used to help those suffering from breathing problem and those in serious condition. The affected people can avail the service by contacting the helplines.
100-BED COVID CARE CENTRE:
A hundred-bed covid care centre with all facilities has been opened at Morarji Desai Residential School in Bilagi to treat COVID-19 patients suffering mild symptoms. The health department has been providing necessary guidance to asymptomatic patients in home isolation.
COVID HOSPITAL:
The Bilagi taluk hospital has been converted into full-fledged covid hospital to treat patients with severe symptoms and breathing problem. This hospital with 50 oxygenated beds and 3 ventilators has been providing quality treatment to patients.
DISTRIBUTION OF SANITISER:
The MRN Foundation has been distributing free hand sanitiser to corona warriors such as healthcare workers, policemen and pourakarmikas.

Allaying fears over COVID-19 pandemic, the minister urged the people to exercise caution and strictly follow the government guidelines. He said infected people should get timely treatment and urged people to get vaccinated and follow lockdown norms and break the chain of coronavirus transmission.
