Bengaluru Traffic AI Cameras Fines; In a major push towards tech-driven policing, the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has officially deployed high-tech Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled smart cameras across all major junctions in the city. Starting today, these cameras will automatically detect traffic violations and generate digital e-challans without human intervention.
The initiative aims to curb reckless driving and reduce fatal accidents in the Silicon Valley of India.
List of Key Violations Tracked by AI Cameras:
- No Helmet & Half Helmet Detection: The AI algorithms can instantly detect if the rider or the pillion passenger is not wearing a helmet. Wearing substandard ‘half-helmets’ will also trigger a fine.
- Signal Jumping & Triple Riding: The system automatically captures the registration plate of any vehicle crossing the stop line during a red signal, as well as two-wheelers carrying more than two passengers.
- Mobile Usage & Seat Belt Violations: Drivers caught using mobile phones while driving or driving without a seat belt will receive an automated SMS with the fine details.
The specialized lenses of these cameras are equipped with Night Vision capabilities, ensuring 24/7 surveillance even in low-light conditions. The BTP has urged all citizens to adhere strictly to traffic rules to avoid hefty penalties and legal action.
